How do I enable SSL encryption in my email program?
You can enable SSL encryption in the following email programs:
To enable SSL encryption in Incredimail, you will need to do the following: - Click Tools, then Email Accounts.
- Place a check in the box next to your email account if it is already setup and click Properties. If the account is not setup, you can find directions to setup your email account in Incredimail here.
- Click the Server tab.
- Make sure that you have pop3.frontier.com for the incoming server and smtp.frontier.com for the outgoing server.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- For the outgoing mail server type 465. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- For the incoming mail server type 995. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Click Ok. That's it! SSL encryption is now enabled.
To enable SSL encryption in Outlook 2003, you will need to do the following: - Click Tools, then Email Accounts.
- Place a dot in the circle next to View or change existing email accounts. If the account is not already setup, you can find directions to setup your email account in Outlook 2003 here.
- Click your email account then click Change.
- Make sure that you have pop3.frontier.com for the incoming server and smtp.frontier.com for the outgoing server.
- Click More Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- For the outgoing mail server type 465. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- For the incoming mail server type 995. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Click Ok, then Next, then Finish. That's it! SSL encryption is now enabled.

- Make sure that you have pop3.frontier.com for the incoming server and smtp.frontier.com for the outgoing server.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- For the outgoing mail server type 465. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- For the incoming mail server type 995. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Click Ok. That's it! SSL encryption is now enabled.
To enable SSL encryption in Mac Mail, you will need to do the following: Mac Mail will automatically test for SSL and will create it if it is available. If you have already created an email account in Mac mail and want to change the SSL you will: - Click the Mail tab.
- Click Preferences, then the Account tab. If the account is not already setup, you can find directions to setup your email account in Mac Mail here.
- Click the drop down menu next to your Outgoing Mail Server.
- Choose Edit SMTP Server List.
- Click Advanced.
- Place a check in the box next to Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
- Click Ok.
- On this screen, click the Advanced tab.
- Check the box next to Use SSL.
- Click the Red button on the top left. That's it! SSL encryption is now enabled.
To enable SSL encryption in Thunderbird, you will want to do the following: - Click Tools and then Account Settings. If the account is not already setup, you can find directions to setup your email account in Thunderbird here.
- Select Server Settings.
- Choose SSL from the drop down menu next to Connection Security.
- Make sure the Port number reads 995.
- Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the menu on the left.
- Click Edit
- Choose SSL from the drop down menu next to Connection Security.
- Make sure the port number reads 465.
- Click Ok, then Ok again. That's it! SSL encryption is now enabled.
To enable SSL encryption in Windows Live Mail, you will want to do the following: - Open Windows Live Mail and right-click your email account. If the account is not already setup, you can find directions to setup your email account in Windows Live Mail here.
- Click Properties.
- Select the Servers tab.
- Make sure that you have pop3.frontier.com for the incoming server and smtp.frontier.com for the outgoing server.
- Click the Advanced tab.

- Click the Servers tab.
- Make sure that you have pop3.frontier.com for the incoming server and smtp.frontier.com for the outgoing server.
- Click the Advanced tab.
