Mac Mail v 1.2.5 (OS X.2 - Jaguar)
Step 1:
To enable SMTP Authentication in Mac Mail v. 1.25 (OS X.2 - Jaguar), open Mac mail v. 1.25, click Mail and then select Preferences.

Step 2:
You should now be in the Accounts window. Make sure that your Frontier account is highlighted in the Description field, and then click Edit.
Note: If you receive e-mail from a provider other than Frontier, the name under the Description *may* differ from what appears in the image below.

Step 3:
You should now be on the Account Information tab.
If your incoming mail server is set to pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, make sure that your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address is present in the User Name field.
If your incoming mail server is set to mail.ctaz.com, make sure that your complete CTAZ e-mail address is present in the User Name field, in the format of username@citlink.net (replace ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will *not* change your e-mail address.
If your incoming mail server is set to something other than pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, do not make any changes to your incoming mail server information.
If your outgoing mail server is set to smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, select Options to proceed.
If your outgoing mail server is set to something other than smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, no changes need to be made at this time.

Step 4:
From the Authentication drop-down menu, select Password.
Enter your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address in the User Name field.
If your e-mail address ends with ctaz.com, enter your e-mail address in the format of username@citlink.net (replacing ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will *not* change your e-mail address.
Enter your password in the Password field. Click OK to proceed.

Step 5:
Click OK. If asked, select Save to keep your changes. That's it! SMTP authentication has been enabled!
