Mac Entourage

Note: Customers using Macintosh Entourage: 2001 9.0 will need to download and install Office security updates in order for Entourage to perform properly when SMTP Authentication is enabled.

The necessary security updates (Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Security Update (9.0.5 and 9.0.6) can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#Office2001 and will update Macintosh Entourage: 2001 9.0 to become version 9.0.6.

Step 1:

To enable SMTP Authentication in Mac Entourage, open Entourage and click Tools at the top of the window.

Step 2:

From Tools, click Accounts at the bottom of the menu.

Step 3:

When the Accounts window opens, you should be on the Mail tab. Make sure your Frontier account is highlighted, and then select Edit.

Note: If you receive e-mail from a provider other than Frontier, the name on the Mail tab *may* differ from what appears in the image below.

Step 4:

When the Edit Account window opens, you should be on the Account Settings tab.

Under Receiving mail, if your POP server is set to pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, make sure that your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address is present in the Account ID field. If your POP server is set to mail.ctaz.com, make sure that your Account ID is entered in the format of: username@citlink.net (replacing ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your e-mail address.

If your POP server is set to something other than pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, do not make any changes to anything in the Personal Information or Receiving mail sections.

If your SMTP server is set to smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, select "click here for advanced sending options" to proceed.

If your SMTP server is set to something other than smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, no changes need to be made at this time.

Step 5:

Make sure that a checkmark is placed in the field to the left of SMTP server requires authentication. Log on using should be selected, and you'll need to enter your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth or Epix e-mail address in the Account ID field. If your e-mail address is in the format of username@ctaz.com, change ctaz.com to citlink.net (example: username@ctaz.com becomes username@citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your e-mail address.

Enter the password for this particular account in the Password field. Click the square in the upper left corner of the window when complete.

Step 6:

Click OK. If asked, select Save when asked if you'd like to save your changes. That's it! SMTP authentication has been enabled!
