Windows Mail

Step 1:

To enable SMTP Authentication in Microsoft Windows Mail, open Windows Mail and click Tools.

Step 2:

Select Accounts from the Tools menu.

Step 3:

Select your mail account found in the Internet Accounts window. Click Properties.

Note: If you receive e-mail from a provider other than Frontier, your account name may differ from what appears in the image below.

Step 4:

Select the Servers tab at the top of the window that appears.

Note: If you receive e-mail from a provider other than Frontier, your User Information may differ from what appears in the image below.

Step 5:

If your incoming mail server is set to pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, make sure that your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address is present in the Account name field.

If your incoming mail server is set to mail.ctaz.com, your CTAZ e-mail address should be placed in the Incoming Mail Server Account name field in the format of: username@citlink.net (replacing ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your e-mail address.

If your incoming mail server is set to something other than pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, do not make any changes to your incoming mail server information.

If your outgoing mail server is set to smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, place a checkmark in the box to the left of My server requires authentication. Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication. Click the Settings button.

If your outgoing mail server is set to something other than smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, smtp.newnorth.net, mail.ctaz.com, or out.epix.net, no changes need to be made at this time.

Step 6:

Select Log on using, and enter your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink / CTAZ, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address in the Account name field. If your e-mail address is in the format of username@ctaz.com, change ctaz.com to citlink.net (example: username@ctaz.com becomes username@citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your e-mail address.

Enter the password for this particular e-mail address in the Password field. Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication. Click OK.

Step 7:

Click Apply at the bottom of the window, and then click OK.

Step 8:

Click Close at the bottom of the window. That's it! SMTP Authentication has been enabled.
