Outlook 2007


Step 1:

To enable SMTP Authentication in Microsoft Outlook 2007, open Outlook and click Tools.

Step 2:

Select Account Settings from the menu that appears.

Step 3:

Under the E-mail tab, click once on your Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink / CTAZ, Newnorth, or Epix account to highlight it. Click the Change button.

Note: If you receive e-mail from a provider other than Frontier, the Name may differ from what appears in the image below.

Step 4:

If your Incoming mail server is set to pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, make sure that your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address is present in the User Name field in the Logon Information section.

If your incoming mail server is set to mail.ctaz.com, make sure that your complete CTAZ e-mail address is present in the User Name field in the Logon Information section, in the format of username@citlink.net (replace ctaz.com with citlink.net).

Please note, your e-mail address will not change.

Do not select Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

If your incoming mail server is set to something other than pop3.frontier.com, pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, pop3.newnorth.net, or in.epix.net, do not make any changes to your Incoming mail server information, or Logon Information.

If your outgoing mail server is set to smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, select More Settings.

If your outgoing mail server is set to something other than smtp.frontier.com, smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, smtp.newnorth.net, or out.epix.net, no changes need to be made at this time.

Step 5:

On the window that appears, select the Outgoing Server tab.

Note: If you receive e-mail from a provider other than Frontier, your Mail Account name may differ from what appears in the image below.

Step 6:

Select the box to the left of My outgoing mail server (SMTP) requires authentication, and select Log on using.

Enter your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix e-mail address in the User Name field.

If you are using a CTAZ e-mail address, enter your e-mail address in the User Name field in the format of username@citlink.net (replace ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, your e-mail address will not change.

Enter the password for this particular e-mail address in the Password field. Do not select Require Secure Password Authentication (SPA). Click OK.

Step 7:

Click Next.

Step 8:

Click Finish at the bottom of the window.

Step 9:

Click Close. That's it! SMTP Authentication has been enabled.
